Learn to build your own wooden surfboard

April 4th, 2008 by Max

We will be holding a workshop this May bank holiday weekend, showing people how to build their own hollow wooden surfboard. Participants don’t need any woodworking experience and by the end of the weekend will know how to build their own wooden surfboard.  During the course of the weekend you will learn the different techniques from building the internal frame to skinning, shaping and fitting fin boxes. We will build a board together and everyone will get hands on experience in assembly and shaping. When the board is built all involved can sign their name to it. After it is glassed it will be raffled off and proceeds will go to a local after school group/community centre.

The course will take part in Tullaghan Community centre, near Bundoran, Co. Donegal, starting at 9am Saturday 3rd May.

Good food, accomodation and surf are available locally.

The cost of the course is € 300. A deposit of € 50 is required to secure a place. Participants will have the opportunity to order kits to build their own boards at home at a discount.

Minimum 5, maximum 15 participants.

Please feel free to e-mail or give us a buzz.
