Build your own Hollow Wooden Surfboard with us (1 to 1 lessons)

There is nothing quite like the satisfaction you get from surfing a hollow wooden surfboard that you’ve just finished building. The process can test your patience and resolve, but it will put the biggest smile on your face. We have worked hard to come up with various techniques for building beautiful, lightweight wooden boards. Now we can offer this knowledge and experience to you in the form of one on one courses showing you how to build your own, without having to go through the lengthy trial and error process, and make the mistakes we did in the beginning. Come to our workshop in Co. Leitrim (half an hour from Bundoran) and let us show you how we do it, from gluing up the deck and bottom skins, right through to the finished blank. This will equip you with the skills to build your own board. We give participants the opportunity to purchase the milled timber needed for the boards and we can provide advice on glassing materials and tools.

We can even offer you the opportunity to build your own wooden board in our well equipped workshop to take home with you. You will be supervised at all times, and walked through the process, but you build the board yourself. Max is always there to offer advice and help where it is needed. At the end of the course you will have built the wooden blank, ready to be shaped and glassed. At this stage you can take the blank home and finish it yourself or you can have us finish it for you. If you decide to finish it yourself we provide all the information you need and you can call or e-mail us with questions if you get stuck.
